BARRY FLAVIN
EXECUTIVE BIOGRAPHY
Barry Flavin consults with private equity groups, national title agencies, existing title insurers and multinational insurers in their acquisition, startup and licensing or divestiture efforts. His focus and experience in early-stage companies and startups has also attracted consulting customers among investment banks and principals in the title M&A space for feasibility analysis, market strategy engagements, and valuation consultations.
Barry Flavin’s breadth of experience in launching, building and growing successful title insurance operations across a wide spectrum of ownership and markets has been rooted in his ability to attract high-performing talent and customers to innovative business structures and responsive technological improvements.
In addition to his role as a founder, President and CEO of a Florida domestic title underwriter, Alliance Title of America, he has most recently helped launch AmTrust Title Insurance Company, and previously served as a senior field executive for First American Title and Lawyers Title, as well as the CEO of a multi-state title agency.
In addition to his operational successes, Flavin has personally sold three of his companies to publicly traded corporations, purchased and sold agencies and insurers for his employers and advised clients on regulatory procedures attending transfer of ownership.
Barry’s foundational experience in the title insurance business included personally closing over 10,000 transactions. He has consistently recognized and deployed emerging business process technologies to achieve outsized gains in distribution efficiency and achieve margins beyond industry benchmarks, while retaining a reputation for fair dealing.
Flavin has developed extensive commercial title insurance units in each of his operational roles through productive referral relationships, the deployment of keen transactional talent, unique reinsurance vehicles, finely tuned bulk sales systems, and an extensive knowledge of insurer regulatory and balance sheet issues.
His knowledge and temperament for startups and early-stage development have served him well in building productive relationships with companies entering and withdrawing from title insurance markets in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean.
